Coming Up on Time to Record

It looked bleak because Yevette was crashed but she has arisen again.  Unsure if recording is going to happen as my arms are definitely paying for yesterday.  There were two or three dry runs and then the real thing in the evening so my arms were definitely earning their soup.  Nothing else has to work too hard for playing but my arms sure do.  There was another dry run today so I may have just run the arms out of juice for now.

Plus it's dayum cold.  Even so, if recording happens, it will pick up quickly.  It screwed me up last night to lose 3.5 hours to getting a battery charged but who knows which varieties of them get screwed if you don't charge them all the way ... so I don't take the chance.

Note:  it may seem sissy to bitch about cold in Texas but there's one tiny problem with Texas ... they know plenty about guns but they don't know beans about insulating a house and keeping it warm.

There's one significant change to the sound of the guitar and, for me, this is major because that sound is signature stuff.  It's bugged me quite a bit that the lead from the guitar can sound too shrill at times in recording because it doesn't sound shrill when I play.  I have often considered EQ for that so instead I've attenuated the high side by three decibels in the guitar box and that may not seem like much but it's significant nevertheless.  I'm highly curious as to the difference it may make.

Reducing the native treble expression for the guitar may make the wah-wah more intriguing because wah-wah specifically jacks the treble and that was on top of treble which was jacked already.  By chapping that down, it may civilize the wah-wah somewhat as well.

A significant bit of drama in playing is to start the song without echo and then bring echo into it as it goes along.  If it's there all the time then you know something's happening but you have to listen for it to decide what it may be.  When echo comes in secondarily, you definitely know there was a change and that's a good one.  Must not forget to turn off echo before starting.

There are three blankets on the couch where all are singing, "This is So Much Better," and maybe they will win but it's not even close to over yet.  It can be some hours yet before there is any concern about noise levels so we shall see how it goes this evening.

If it happens tonight, it will be Take 6 because it would be very, very bad juju to disturb the spirit of Dave Brubeck.
