Because Fashion is My Life

Fashion is my life ... so long as I can do it for thirty bucks or less.  Usually that means Henley shirts and PJ pants but this time I'm ready for The Wedding Crashers.

There's some cool button for the first at the top of the shirt for that extra touch which says, whoa, this cat really knows where to get a used tux.

(Ed:  there are no pants!)

Correct.  This is the aspect which may cause problems at weddings, regrettably.

(Ed:  and you only wear slippers!)

Correct.  I following the teaching of the great Confucius who said, "Man who does not wear slippers ends day with sore feet."

Note:  I didn't expect these togs for four days so it means only one thing, play it, Sam.  A sit-down video would probably be funny but this needs more life and the Galaxy Guitar has to be there.

Hat tip to Mystery Lady because it is quite amazing what's to be found from a little rooting around.

"Occupy Freedom" - SaveMe Oh w/Music from Richie Havens (video)

Richie Havens gave us one of the most emotional statements of freedom and one of the boldest at Woodstock.  It's what freedom looks like when you're not a tin soldier (i.e. someone who watches the war on television) but salutes flags and ice cream trucks for the show of it.

Occupy freedom from SaveMe Oh on Vimeo.
Restricted space turned into public space, trespassing what is ours, occupy our freedom.
All the world's a stage!

The integration by SaveMe Oh goes to the heart of the song far more than any mechanical rituals ever could.  Excellent work.

And Then There Wasn't the Non-Existential Moment

The existential moment is not hard to find as it must be one because I heard a sound; it makes noise therefore it is.  The non-existential moment is impossible to find because it doesn't make any sound so (shrug) therefore it isn't.

Where humans get all flipped and wind up in a tavern drinking themselves blind is in thinking of a spectral interstitial moment in between the moments during which time both reveal themselves at once.  We need an ultra physicist well-versed in multiple dimensions, Higg's bosons, and all that bother to even consider where such a spectral moment could exist, if it exists, when it exists.

There's not much else in religion which matters to people all that much and most it usually culminates in killing or hurting people, at least to most modern evidence although the Inquisition was a grand party as well.  Conservatives, we may note, brought that one as well.  We don't know if they disguised themselves as Democrats that time or maybe that was a modern invention.

People will get up in a lather over this spectral interstitial moment as 'I saw the light, I saw the light.'

Well, no, Godfrey, that wasn't the non-existential moment because it doesn't make light, it doesn't make anything, and you are clearly existential at that moment or you wouldn't see anything anyway.

Elizabeth Kübler-Ross had more twists on this than an English garden maze and she expanded her five steps of death and dying into a series akin to the "Dune" novels which may not ever end since Frank Herbert's son continues to write them.  For more sci-fi / fantasy fun, try reading all of Anne McAffrey's books on the Dragonriders of Pern.

Regardless of what you think may occupy the non-existential moment, the consideration of anything taking place between the existential moment and the non-existential moment is what grabs people the most.  Can I see one view from the other.

We love the ghostie / horror stories or at least you may, they scare the bejeebers out of me.  In all of those stories the non-existential become spectral so we get to wonder, well, where were they when they weren't at least spectral.  That must be the non-existential place so it's there.  Eureka.

We like that even when the specters are usually vicious with over-size teeth and are prone to biting off our faces.  This does not give us a good feeling about what else may or may not be hiding in the hypothetical non-existential moment.  Nevertheless, it's encouraging to some this evidence exists, intangible as it may be.

The part still biting people hard is I want to see one from the other and the fundamental in this one is it's logically impossible since it's a necessarily binary distinction:  one is and one isn't.  The End.

(Ed:  or your contention is complete crap!)

The regulars know by now, Heckling Student, everything I write is potentially complete crap or what's the point in writing it.  If it were definitive then I might as well be giving an authoritative lecture series on pre-Columbian art ... but I ain't.

Maybe you start thinking, well, Steve Jobs said, wow, so that must mean something, right?

Well, it means whatever you like even when you know it's logically impossible to have seen anything except his current existential moment and maybe the 'wow' was because he couldn't feel his feet ... which many of you know even ganja has a high propensity for doing.

There's no argument with whatever may 'be' in the existential moment and the non-existential moment.  Maybe the latter has Heaven, maybe it has Luna Park, maybe it's nothing and how should I know.  We know we're in the current existential moment because I think therefore I am.  We can't prove anything else exists but we're fairly sure we're real.  We're not quite sure where we're real since we feel ourselves in our heads but there's another me who looks at me doing what I'm doing and I know you can play this little game as well.

You can chase that weasel for where's the real me all night long but you'll only end up snorting cocaine from the top of a toilet tank like Freud or Mayor Berry or someone.

Perhaps you like chasing weasels or you wouldn't have waded this far into the article.  There won't be anything conclusive from this one on it because there can't be.  For anything I may say you have a perfect right to call 'bullshit' and it will be fair ... well, assuming it's not in TeleGrunt:  b cuz i sed so.

Melania Trump Successfully Defends Against Daily Mail - Russia Today Disgraces Itself

The Daily Mail, easily one of the sleaziest tabloids on the Internet, in one of their characteristically swinish attacks accused Melania Trump of selling herself for sex at some stage in her life.  Even if she did then so what as anyone has to survive and people generally do better at anything without Americans issuing their proclamations of plastic morality on the matter.  In any case, there's no evidence Trump did anything so she sued and won.  The Daily Mail backed down.

Fair enough and they should have but here's the initial description in the article in Russia Today, a rag I normally respect ... but not this time.  The article is not credited so the slime who wrote it remains as anonymous as the one within the Daily Mail who wrote the original offense.

It seems the Daily Mail forgot they were talking about the most litigious happy family around when they published allegations that Melania Trump was involved in sex work. The article was retracted after she filed a complaint in court.

It seems Melania has taken up the Trump pastime of suing publications that display the family in a disparaging light.

Here at the Rockhouse, we see little difference between this article and the original offense.  Read the muckracking trash if you like at RT: Melania Trump sues Daily Mail into submission.

Maybe the RT journo was pleased by his or her personal knowledge of the meaning of 'litigious' or of finding it in a thesaurus (smirk).

Note:  use of the word was sloppy and awkward.  It would have better stated as 'the most litigious family' since 'litigious happy' doesn't make any sense.  Go back to Journo 101, Junior.

Jeff - John Oliver started the Jeff series and this was one of my contributions.  Jeff is there but you may find Diane Kruger more appealing.  We know she survived although (sob) Jeff the Marlboro Man's Diseased Lung probably did not.

Historians - they're studying the matter of the flippity floppity in the Democratic Party in which it became the GOP.  The historians study matters with their half-height reading glasses and look at each other over the top of them only to say, 'hmmm,' and return to their studies of this curious matter.

Bloom County - how one political party fell to ruin and thanks, Opus

Twittticisms

Rat Patrol - take the rat patrol (CNN, Fox, Guardian US) when there's absolutely, positively, nothing else to read anywhere

The Galaxy Guitar - she twinkles and she even still sings.  This was yesterday.

The Rowdy Revisionists - the real vs actual history of the Schwinn Sting-Ray.  As to which is which ... well ... that depends, doesn't it.

Lindsey Graham - human simulacrum from South Carolina but the little-known fact is he's a modified version of a Japanese sex doll except this one is a gay man programmed for Republican politics

Soundcheck - watching and listening to Tony Bram's Orchestra while they set up in the town square across the hotel in which I was staying, the only room left in town with le Tour de France arriving the next day.

It was time to go full astronaut for the concert since Cat was in Bavaria and I, quite clearly, was in France so I took on her on the date ... with Skype and an iPad.  She loved the performance and it went well into the night because ... Europe.  How's that for progressive, Hipster Herbert.

Bloom County and the Heartbreak of Online

By the light of the silvery moo-oo-oo-oon.

Rat Patrol News (CNN, Fox, Guardian)

The Rat Patrol reveals such a morass of self-contented nothing and all graced by a divine light or maybe it's coming from the Motel 6 across the street.

There's the relentless poo flinging we love so much or at least someone does, apparently quite a few.  That's the bulk of the Rat Patrol content.

Trump actually took a position on something today and it finished him but at least he did it.  That serves as a focus for the neolibs and they continue flinging poo while playing like vestal virgins regarding all the people Clinton has said specifically she plans to murder.  That kind of fatuous yet vicious absurdity may not have a parallel.

Meanwhile, CNN compounds its own disgrace by getting weepy over refugee children drowning in the Mediterranean even while they offer endless patriotic salutes to the mercenary bimbo who has done nothing and likely will not ever do anything for them unless it's in a contrived photo op.  She plans, like Obama, to create more of them and further exacerbate the problems in the EU.

The Guardian has the clear title for the Most Fatuous News Channel since they're mostly neo-femmes proclaiming something or other.  They bitch about the unfair pay scale for actresses even while they hate such women for making so much money.  The Guardian houses some seriously creepy writers.

Just in case you think we have any chance at all, here's what has become of the Lady in the Lake; she turned into Bizzaro from the Superman comics.  The neo-Bizzaro is mad as hell because he was programmed without a penis and he has been told it was Trump's fault.  It doesn't matter since no neolib ever did anything without an iPhone and Bizarro doesn't have one of those either.

The Galaxy Guitar Still Twinkles

The Galaxy Guitar only twinkles when she moves and Mystery Lady figured it out that way.  It was brilliant, although not brilliant twinkling as that would have been garish.

It's a lot like catching waves or would be if I ever surfed more than body surfing but that mildly counts.  You feel a bit of wave building so go with it.  Might be a long time until another one.

It would have been cooler to hear than to watch as that was wobbly enough to be embarrassing.  The sound was surprisingly good.  Sometimes Yevette gets a bit melancholy or so and says 'she gets emotional' and sometimes it does get that way although it's not always melancholy driving it.  This is more like a sense of 'I can't believe this is working.  She's sounding kind of sweet.'

There will be a video when that Mandarin Nehru jacket arrives because I need an Old Fucker Attitude Video and it's not a bad attitude but rather it goes straight to what do you do when you can't do a whole lot ... whatever you fucking can (larfs).

And, of course, fashion is my life.  The jacket should arrive September 6.  Since I was in for $20 anyway, I asked them to send the shirt for $10 as well.

As to how this happens, surgery sites are finally getting on with it after more than three weeks.  Skin is incredibly intelligent but it's screwed when there's nothin' there and has to work its way in from the sides.  It finally goes and yeah, yeah, there's the pink stuff.  That's what we want.

The wobbly isn't likely to get a whole lot better but you'll have to put up with a little decrepit since it's all part of The Way anyhow.  Hopefully the eminently cool fashion moment will sufficiently dazzle that I will get away with it.  It's suspension of disbelief and all that.  I actually think the threads will look kind of cool and, wtf, it would cost that to go to the Zoo, a one-time thing as well.  (Insert editorial on how the hell it ever got to cost so much to go to the Zoo.)

I won't use any lasers but will likely use lights although not with any flicker since that gives some viewers a nutso effect and it's physical so either warn so they can bail out or don't do it.  Hmm ... must ask if any change in the lights is tolerable or is it only lasers, etc.  It may be the rapid firing and movement of the lasers is the source since nothing else really strobes.  Must clarify.

Historians Gather to Study How the GOP Flipped the Democratic Party

Probably no-one argues the Democratic Party has flipped into a phase shift in which they have now traded places with the Republican Party.  That left the Republican Party nowhere to go but they were never good at imagination anyway.  In any case, the last historical precedent for this was in the late 19th Century and historians will gather to study the phenomenon of the present relative to that flip to get more depth on it than future history classes, assuming they're not held in caves, will ever be able to stand without being bored senseless.

(Ed:  so why do you do it?)

Because I'm not the incompetent history prof who doesn't know you're bored senseless; I'm the bad history prof who doesn't give a fuck.  Think Billy Bob Thornton getting drunk while he talks about how Indians hunted dinosaurs in the Great Plains.

Cadillac Man would have become a history prof and whether he would have been good, incompetent or bad as Billy Bob was his course to carve but he got waylaid as many of us did with senseless jobs which 'did little for the content of one's life but at least gave it structure.'  -  Nelson (last name unknown)

Someone has got to remember Nelson as he could be killin' funny.

Maybe someone could also validate the seeming tall tale about how he spoke with an accent which sounded like high-end Brit and that was more or less credible when I heard plenty of that at home.  High-end Brit doesn't necessarily relate to wealth as a destitute pauper may sound like Prince Charles.  Nelson swore he grew up in a small part of Kentucky where everyone spoke that way.  It's all got a tenuous credibility but was never validated and the best tall tales never can be anyway.

Doc did not seem aware of the previous flip of the GOP which I mentioned as 'back when they were the good guys' and he got a wee bit shirty over that.  Maybe we shouldn't have decided not to tell him he got dropped on his head as a kid.  It's all so unclear (larfs).

He started singing the party anthem and I ran away before I could say, 'holy shit, bro.  Did they shoot you with a fucking death ray or what??'  (larfs)

Note:  he wasn't that bent and please do allow a little latitude.

I think he's now yer Gary Johnson man since he was left without a party with the rest of the Repubs and he's damned if he's hanging out with those Democrats.  They don't wash and they stink.

Note:  that's not stink, Doc; that's retail perfume.  Train the senses.  Use the Force, Luke.  Imagine spending eternity stuck in an elevator with a fat woman who bathes in cheap perfume and preaches equality.  Welcome to the New Democratic Party.

There's not likely much or any exaggeration regarding the professorial interest this Democratic Party flip is likely to elicit and we can look for a confirmation from Cadillac Man who, to some extent, does a field study of the matter as it evolves since that gives him a novel perspective relative to the previous flip.  That competes with his interest in the history of soda fountains so the Democratic flip will need to fight hard for his attention.  We shall see.

Similarly to the Republicans, the Democrats were left without a home and we're like Discus babies after one of the parents shakes them off.  We look frantically around for Mama and Jill Stein could be her but she looks more like a fascinating date for a mature gentleman.  She doesn't look like my Mama.

(Ed:  she's gay)

I guess she isn't interested in a date with a mature gentleman then.

Is that true?

(Ed:  who knows.  They say Clinton is gay as well.)

In that case, who cares (larfs).  Throw her some francs, she'll go away.

The Rowdy and Raucous Schwinn Bicycle Revisionists Roar Righteousness w/pics

Damn it, the bicycle really was a Sting-Ray and not a Stringray.  With that, the gauntlet, replete with multi-colored plastic streamers, was thrown.

Here's the segment from WIKI which may have been the root of the revisionism.

The Sting-Ray

In 1962, Schwinn's designer Al Fritz heard about a new youth trend centered in California for retrofitting bicycles with the accoutrements of motorcycles customized in the "bobber" or "chopper" style, including high-rise, "ape-hanger" handlebars and low-rider "banana seats".  Inspired, he designed a mass-production bike for the youth market known as Project J-38.  The result, a wheelie bike, was introduced to the public as the Schwinn Sting-Ray in June 1963.  It had ape-hanger handlebars, banana seat and 20-inch tires.  Sales were initially slow, as many parents desiring a bicycle for their children did not find the Sting-Ray appealing in the least.   However, after a few appeared on America's streets and neighborhoods, many young riders would accept nothing else, and sales took off. By 1965, a host of American and foreign manufacturers were offering their own version of the Sting-Ray.

WIKI: Schwinn Bicycle Company

The text is intermingling street slang with ad copy so it looks the dancer's choice for the text which finally ended up going out to the parents and chill'uns.

Note:  I found the WIKI just because browsing around but the rest came from Yevette who is highly-insistent on the history.

It definitely looks official to this reviewer.

Note:  all of this material was provided by Yevette who is adamant about revision.  She can also talk about the bike in the same way as hard-core Harley riders can get wistful over the days of the flathead (WWII or so).

The Fastback??

In case you think being called a 'chick' is bad, would CHIK be better?

Another casualty of corporate union busting:

Christmas when America was prosperous and unions were strong.

This must have been mid-fifties, well before we arrived in America.  It feels surprisingly non-sexist for that time.  Sure the girl has her little dolly but they remind Schwinn bikes for girls are just as well-made.
