The ones without politicians in them, mate. In other words, practically everywhere in America is cool ... just not the parts with pols. Keep that in mind. You didn't see any pols out there with the Giant Redwoods, did you? I rest my case. America is cool ... but only in the places without politicians.

Before you fall in love with this one too quickly, it may list for up to $80K. However, I took a look about Craig's List and found a number in the $15K - $20K range but expect those cruisers to be about twenty years old.
Keep in mind the motor and chassis for many is built by Ford and that technology has been solid for ages. Getting such a vehicle repaired won't require finding someone who works on Ferraris.
At this glorious age of life, our tolerance for even the tiniest kind of backtalk from a vehicle is nonexistent. We have had it with broken water pumps, switches which don't work, seat heaters which drain the battery, etc, etc. At this stage in life, it may be an active threat if the vehicle does strand us since some won't have the capability to hoof it for help. Without a mobile at that point, you're an ex-highway statistic.
Therefore, the inclination is to buy the vehicle new at eighty grand but that's highly likely to be cost-prohibitive so used is required.
$35K on Craig's List and it's a 2007 Gulf Stream Mini Freightliner
We've come up to ten years old and the vehicle is about half the cost of new so there's your vehicle cost half life. You have probably seen a vehicle similar to this one thousands of times in your lives in America since it's just about the standard for middle class touring and has been for many years. When people have gone out to discover America, it's usually been in a vehicle of this nature.

Thanks for the info. You're right the 80K Class B vehicle is perfect except for cost. However, depreciation amortized over 10 years works out to about $375/month. I'd be approaching 80 at that point. The wheels on the vehicle might still be turning but mine might not. I tend to favor a new or relatively new model with low miles because being stuck by the side of the road is to be avoided.
