"Going Back to The Patriot" #Poetry #Peace

"The Patriot" is one hell of a story
with irony which goes for miles
since the ones who will most cheer it
are now the other side

The rebels became the Tories
and now act just the same
but that's the evolution of power
which is Man's perennial game

Substitution of one set of monsters
for the ones just departed
means the first move is to get some money
so, baby, let's get started

In time there's CIA and DARPA
and anything for a thrill
because there's nothing Tories love so much
as going for a kill

We saw their way at Amritsar
and that shame will live forever
Cameron tried to bob and wave
about that India disgrace
yet he was doing the same damn thing
but in another place
where he learned with the U.S.A.
don't let anyone see what we waste

So long as Tories don't have to do it
anyone else must go
Tories just preserve their riches
and they won't ever show

None of this is conscious
while I watch the movie play
since I see how it was when the French arrived
on that final fateful day

They were there when America needed them
but now it's just a game
and America is the occupier
so likely things will go the same

France rejected the Despot
and hired the Flip Flop man instead
but we don't much care for their politics
since they sometimes make good bread

The baguettes are too die for
and Brother Dick gave us his will
There are many things worth dying for
but nothing worthy of a kill
