Ted Cruz and Shrink Wrap Politics

Ted Cruz paid for a consulting firm to review psychological data accumulated with questionable legality from millions of Facebook users.    (The Guardian:  Ted Cruz using firm that harvested data on millions of unwitting Facebook users)

The point is not so much the slutty harvesting of information in this way because Cruz probably has no monopoly on dirty techniques of this nature and likely the other candidates do it as well.  That these are lower-caste sleaze buckets relative to real politicians isn't any surprise.

Review of the generic profile of that psychological information lets the candidate custom bake a political platform designed specifically to cater to it.  This type of thing is straight out of just about any horror sci-fi story you care to name, most famously, "Brave New World."  (WIKI:  Brave New World)

Ted Cruz is not a stupid man and he has a Harvard degree in (I believe) law.  When he says stupid or ignorant things, the next question is why.

Maybe we're Alphas or like to think we are but Ted Cruz is specifically targeting the Epsilons and the psychological profiles he has obtained give him tremendous capability for saying exactly the things they want to hear.  It's an obscene way to gain office but Epsilons are in huge numbers and they probably would not vote unless they believe there is something concrete they will get out of it.  Cruz sees there is a big play in baiting Muslims so he's off to the races with it.

(Ed:  it's better to be a Gamma.  Alphas are always worried about something but we Gammas don't do that.  It's good to be a Gamma.)

Yah but Alphas have the best sex.

(Ed:  Gammas don't talk about it, we just do it.  This is why we are happy and Alphas are worried all the time.)

This kind of electoral engineering is the next step after poll-based political platforms.  These types of approaches to political contests are obscene insofar as they incline politicians toward presenting information people want to hear rather than whatever they may believe personally.

Congratulations to Ted Cruz for now making that worse.
