I will update this article after each step is completed.
Step 1: convert all the master files from AIFF to WAV format
Check. Now completed at 2:45 am
Step 2: upload WAV files to CD Baby (likely to be complicated by forgotten password problems)
Live - Safari remembered my password better than I did so now this step proceeds
Final Music Converter is the software used to convert the files. It does a good job and I got it for free or not much from Apple's App Store.
I hit a rock. "The End of the World in Fort Worth" choked and it will take a bit of research to discover the problem. All other files are uploaded as of 3:50 am.
Problem discovered as the audio quality for the track is not below CD quality but rather above it at 48K and CD Baby won't accept that so a few minutes are needed to down-sample it.
Note: 48K is the standard for DVD audio
SWITCH was used for the conversion and it's $19.95 from NCH Software but let me use it for free, I guess, as a trial.
Check. Now completed at 4:25 am
Step 3: proceed with rigmarole to get information associated with each song (time-consuming but easy)
Check. Now completed at 3:30 am
Step 4: upload the Ride the Dragon graphic you see above (easy)
Check. Now completed at 3:00 am
Step 5: commit to release the songs to iTunes (easy)
Check. Now completed at 4:35 am
Note: there will be a delay while CD Baby validates the content before beginning distribution but it usually doesn't take long.
Step 6: post some sort of blather to announce what a wonderful thing I did (not easy at all)
Check. This article will serve as the blather and I'll write another one with the contents of the CD.
