Barcelona was a big win with Yevette. I'm cool with whatever happens but taking my guitar to Spain is about as uncool as I could get. My vision of Spain is Voodoo playing, not me. It would be so ridiculously cool to hear him live in some cafe in Spain ... but I digress.
Spain has two tactical difficulties:
1) The Alps are between Spain and Bavaria and Cat
2) I'm fresh out of elephants
The main trick I see in this is making a base which is not confining. It does no good to escape one trap only to get locked into another one. What that suggests to me is the cheapest possible base of operations as then there's freedom to wander and return. That means it has to be cheap enough to be something affordable even when we're not there. It's not impossible, it just takes some thinking.
The Main Problem to Solve for everyone, Cadillac Man included if he wants, is prevention of Endlessly Boring Bullshit. ISIS, Caitlyn Jenner, politicians, Bill O'Reilly, Kim Kardashian, boy bands, NRA, cops, and one gigantic reduction in religious loonies. I didn't see a religious billboard anywhere in five countries. Euros believe or they don't and haven't turned religion into a spiritual butter substitute.
Tactical for anywhere is the need for a visa. I only use the US passport to escape and then I switch to using a UK passport as that opens all of Europe. It opens the same for a US passport but not in terms of staying for a significant time. Past a certain limit, maybe three months or whatever, and you must have a valid visa to stay.
This is all pre-jump preparation as there's no need to add the pressure of working through a US embassy somewhere else. I've done it. I didn't like it. Not even a little bit. The government was shut down during the course of it. Beauty time that was.

Let's talk. Call me or let me know when and how to get in touch
with you. UH!
It's about 1000 kilometers from Barcelona to Munich. Europe may be small, but it's not that small ;-)
That's what I meant about being fresh out of elephants.
There's all kinds of dead-cheap bus and train deals, though. All over the place.
It would be so much cooler on an elephant, tho.
The availability of buses and trains is fantastic and there were double-deckers all over Edinburgh. All of the buses I saw in Greece were extremely cool. I didn't travel on them because I had the scooter but they looked like they would be highly cool.
