Many are taking up for Ross Albricht as if he were representing freedom in some way but that's no more appropriate than lauding the U.S. military for opening up heroin production again to pre-Taliban levels in Afghanistan.
Ross Albricht was a dope dealer and it was for any type of dope you want to push. The Silk Road had no ethical boundaries even if Albricht claimed it was the vehicle for removing dope trafficking from dealers with guns. That kind of rationalization is ludicrous as big money always attracts guns. He wasn't working toward any sensibility in drug laws but rather to make a ton of money.
The rules are clear for dealers and always have been. If we catch you then we will fuck you up. How much we will fuck you up varies as much as every other caprice of law in the U.S. but we will definitely fuck you up in some way.
We, here on the Lunatic Fringe, support and even advocate use of various illegal drugs which grow from the ground. However, narcotics only start in that category and then are processed in various ways to become the white or brown powders. That processed powder will kill you and we do not support it. While Albricht's punishment was exceptionally harsh, it was not appropriate to let it go.
