The Mystery Lady is one of a small number of women I have met in my life who exemplify every good thing a human can be in selflessness, generosity, and compassion, all of which are things I see in hardly anyone anymore.
There are only three others and they're Telia, Yevette, and Cat. Any man would give an arm to meet such women and I have been lucky enough to meet four of them. (Well, actually three as Telia understood the Internet perfectly years before it died and never showed her face online anywhere and we never met) Mentioning these women does not dilute a celebration of the Mystery Lady's birthday as I would invite all of them. It may feel unseemly to do such a thing but I did something like that once before.
Honorable Mention: although hardly a romantic interest, the Queen Bee is one who also had very little but gave without expectation when she could. Through her job she had the ability to get people flying and she freely gave trips to everyone in the family without expecting a thing in return. (It was all legal. If you want to travel, get a job at an airline. That was an ingenious move.)
The homecoming concert in Cincinnati was the night of the Mystery Lady's birthday. She sang in the show, of course, but what people didn't see is how she was like Mother Goose in helping Yevette get ready for her set. That's what sets her apart as she gives without measuring. Yevette had only just disembarked from multiple bus rides which took her over 1500 kilometers so she was frazzled. There was a bad seed who wanted to attack her but the Mystery Lady was there to help and you bet the show went on. It may well have been one of the best Donika (i.e. Yevette) ever did.
And that's because of how both of them are special. Bad seeds come and go but friends are lifetime and love is forever. (Some of you know who the bad seed was in this case but she deserves no more mention than that in this context)
Cat was not part of the show although I would have dearly loved it if she were but this was before we were seeing each other. There isn't any doubt in me it would have been even better if she were there as she is made of the same special stuff. If had been seeing her at the time, we would have thrown a rock fight which would have set Second Life music back a hundred years and it would have been fantastic. No kids playing chords, no auto-tune, no back tracks, just real people playing real instruments with each other and singing if they feel the music needs it.
If you're looking for Christmas every day ... and you ought to be as it's right there ... find yourself a woman like the Mystery Lady as she is one of the rarest in she expects nothing at all more than you love her the way she loves you.
Happy birthday, Mystery Lady. May you see many more, all of which bring the warmth of the Gemini sun.
