Harriet Tubman for the Twenty Dollar Bill

The current Old Dead Guy on a twenty-dollar bill is Andrew Jackson and his history does not belong alongside a discussion of Harriet Tubman.  The history with Jackson is well-documented and he's hardly a source of American pride.

Harriet Tubman was a major figure in fighting slavery by leading slaves to freedom on the Underground Railroad. (CNN:  Will Harriet Tubman be on the next $20 bill?)

The topic is all the more interesting to me now as it hasn't been so long since reviewing choices people might have.  Harriet Tubman is an excellent choice and perhaps our neighborhood racist says this is a tokenized response but, call her what you like, what a magnificent token and who would not want to leave behind such a heritage.  She's not a token, she's one of the bravest people who ever lived.

The twenty-dollar bill represents for America in a huge way as that and the hundred-dollar bill are in circulation all over the world.  I have a major problem with that representation including Andrew Jackson but I would be proud to be represented by Harriet Tubman.  I don't see this as a compromise to satisfy demands from women, black people, or the Man in the Moon but rather it's an excellent step forward in recognition of human accomplishment.

Sure, Harriet Tubman can be represent me any time at all and I'd take proper pride in it.  I wasn't here and my family wasn't either but I can be proud humanity can be capable of what she did.
