Awesome $4,500 Completely Off-Grid Tiny House ... But Is it Value

This $4,500 build for a tiny house is for Lotho since he's the only one I know with the knowledge and skill to build such a thing.  The question is whether he would.

I recently had the chance to visit Jeremy's completely off-grid tiny house in Eastern, North Carolina.  The first thing that struck me about his tiny home is the simplicity of it while also maintaining a very nice aesthetic.  His water comes from a pitcher pump inside the home that is filtered before use.  His energy comes from a simple solar that meets all of his needs.  His tiny house is basically everything he needs and nothing he doesn't.  He even grows much of his food, coming pretty darn close to self-sufficiency.  One more that's never mentioned around Jeremy's home, for obvious reasons is "mortgage." Thanks so much Jeremy for the tour!

There's no Rockhouse doubt Lotho could build a tiny house such as this but the question remains of should he.  The Rockhouse sees one dayum cute li'l house but it has major liabilities.

- the insulation on the walls is pitifully thin or non-existent

- the only thing less green than a wood-burning fire is use of a burning tar pit for heat

- the house is not really 'off the grid' when it's still necessary to purchase propane although only in small quantities

- there's nothing positive in such overt isolationism and what purpose does a tiny house serve beyond withdrawal

- if there's a grizzly bear outside this tiny house, the resident will likely reach for the power of personal prayer in doublequick time

Conversely, the tiny house is undeniably charming and it serves our hero's needs.  He has quite a few books relative to the size of the house so he's probably at least somewhat antisocial anyway.

Lotho:  it looks like the kind of pad Ted Kaczynski would dig!

Well, I guess the only thing separating this pad from that of the Unabomber writing his manifesto is a typewriter.  (WIKI:  Ted Kaczynski)

Lotho:  the hero doesn't seem like a psychopath

Yah, the difference between dissident and psychopath may be the number of bodies.

I dont understand the tiny house phase. There are 6 at the Home and Garden show this weekend.
His makes sense as self contained living space. I have seen some really cool variations done with shipping containers.
PS he is in North Carolina so it would likely be a black bear. Also he would be reaching for his hunting rifle of choice

I have seen some which were kind of cool since they built them as houseboats but overall they don't make any more sense to me than they seem to make to you. They're cute but extremely low function and I really don't see much of a value in them.
