Gay Rodeo in Oklahoma - Hell Yes, I Would Go

This might be a place of don't-give-a-shit gay guys and they were always the most fun.  Anyone who is willing to ride a bucking bronco definitely doesn't give a shit about anything.  (The Guardian: Oklahoma rodeo: 'I can be gay and I can be a cowboy' – video)

Regular cowboys are the down at the Stockyards and they're likely as interesting as jocks ever get (i.e. not very interesting).

Gay cowboys could add to it what rodeo could seriously use:  comedy.  The trouble with gay people isn't that they're gay but rather they aren't anywhere near as funny as they once were.  Gay comedy is dead as what's to mock when everyone from preachers to politicians has come out of the closet.  The topic just isn't that interesting ... unless you throw in another variable.

Bucking broncos.

Well, well.  Ride 'em, cowboy.

In fact, I suspect there were many gay cowboys as that lonely life would look highly attractive to someone in a Victorian era who finds he's attracted to men and can't resolve that with what society, religion, etc tell him.  So, head west, young man.  Maybe it's different out there.

As a young man, I would sometimes wonder if I'm gay and my mind hides it from me.  I would ask myself if there is any gay thing I would like to do and there wasn't but still I could tell myself my mind is just hiding that from me and really I'm a fuckin' queer and everybody knows.  Kinsey said most men have some type of homosexual experience so I would review my past looking for anything that might have been gay.  I knew there wasn't but still a young man can tell himself the mind plays tricks and really you're a screamer.

I strongly suspect a lot of men never do stop playing that game with themselves.

The rodeo is not for any kind of games as bucking broncos don't play.  My personal view is that it's one dumb-ass thing to do as a fall from a horse can easily break your back and we have seen that many times.  For that reason, I have some reluctance to watch as I would never want to see that happen to anyone.  As to them being gay, I don't care.  I think it would be a gas.  If you don't think so, watch the video in the article.  Check it out, it's a beautiful thing they do ... and it's funny.

Hang in with the video until the audience starts singing "Amazing Grace."  Likely it will make you cry but you won't mind.
