The Boor Wars, Musical in Nature

The Boors live across the street and have a car with an audio system which rattles every window in the house.  Yah, yah, have a ball, kid ... at two in the afternoon.  After ten at night, you strengthen the meaning of the family name.

Naturally, this requires retaliation and thus the Boor Wars begin.

The P.A. cabinets are next to a pair of French doors that will probably take Arnold Schwarzenegger to open but, here at the Fort Worth Rockhouse, we know the most important part of engineering is to have a big-ass hammer.

So ... the next time the Boors pull this stuff (i.e. most likely tomorrow), the best response would be to put the speakers on the verandah outside, aimed at all that Boor love, and give them a bit of Silas.

Perhaps you think I mean Silas rock but nooooooo.  I'm thinking Silas doing Elvis covers, really, really, really bad Elvis covers with them as off-key as only a Republican singer can make them.  (Relax, they do everything off-key)

But that's just the warm-up as that needs a sermon from the legendary, the fabled, the one and only Reverend Silas T Sasquatch to preach on the perils of listening to dumb ass, four-beat music.  It will be affirmed that anyone who really is straight will have at least a snare drum in the beat and not just the incessant, aggressively-stupid kick drum.

And then it will be time for Silas to sing some more ... falsetto.

It's time

Yes ... now

The time is now.

Silas in-drag doing a Taylor Swift cover in a blonde wig.

You know it's time.  You know you want it.  You know the Boors will hate it worse than an ant farm in the bed linens (assuming they don't have one there already).

How to Get Music Happening with the iMac Down

There's someone responding to my questions but she ought to go back to baking cookies as she knows nothing about debugging systems.  The latest was to log a 'panic attack' (i.e. type of Apple failure) with Apple.  Here's the beauty part:  the log goes to the same place that has been wasting my time with their insane fishing trips.

So, with the iMac down for some indeterminate period, the laptop is the sole survivor.  However, that does not necessarily kill back tracks as it's possible to drive them with an iPad.  It's a blazing nuisance using those stupid things but it will work.  It's conceivable the iPad will be back here next week.

Even without the iPad, there can still be a show but it most likely means only the looper can be used. There's some merit to this as if I do abandon the computers then this is exactly what I would do in Germany.

So, things are in chaos but I am always thinking of how to play another set for Cat.  To do a back-to-back show with Vandengroef makes it all the cooler.  Even without the iMac, I believe the show next week can happen.  It's not the show I want to do but, ok, do some musician stuff.  Make something up.

Many things are crushing depressing but the music must not stop.  That is one dead-solid promise.

Massive Discontent over Apple OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 #yosemiteproblems #apple

Check out Twitter if you're interested as there's a snowstorm of bitching about the poor quality of the Yosemite 10.10.3 release.

Tim Cook would do well to stop talking about his boring sex life and start bringing Apple back to the standard Jobs had set.  He has a long way to go.

I can't emphasize strongly enough:  do NOT install OS X Yosemite 10.10.3.  Yosemite 10.10.4 is in beta now but even that may just make things worse.  Go very very slowly with the new Apple.  It isn't what it was.

I am in serious danger of losing all my videos as there's no way to backout the changes.  I can restore the OS but I cannot restore terabytes of videos I've made.  Don't do this to yourself.  Final Cut 10.2 looks sexy but it's a trap.  WAIT for stability.

Chicagosax Brings the Jazz to Cat's Art MusikCircus

There's one fundamental thing to remember when the saxman plays:  the girls will go home with him.  Chicagosax is one incredible saxman and it's not even close to my purpose to talk about his love life but I can tell you this much.  He has been playing sax since the late fifties and you can use your own vivid imagination for what that may mean.

Chicagosax is George Buetow on Facebook and that's where I read about Chicago's new act or, well, half of it.  Here's a pic with both halves, Back to Back.

Maybe you want to call him old but who's jamming with you, chum.  They will doing some thirty-minute sets around Chicago and will grow the act from there.  I know I wouldn't miss them if I were there.

In fact, Chicago jams with everyone and here are Janne and Gini on-stage with him.

Thanks for a wonderful show, George.  Cat can't say it for herself over the thunder and lightning in Bavaria so I will thank you on her behalf as well.

Lord, Lord, feel my pain!

Left to right: Molly Bratt, Cat Boucher, Silas Scarborough with Chicagosax on-stage.

Removing Flash Player Stops Safari Webkit Crashes

This isn't news as I knew it already.  Take a look at log from a Safari and/or Webkit crash and you'll see Flash all through it.

(Ed:  why mention it?)

At least one good thing came out of all this mess.

(Ed:  impressive)

Well, no, but it was a good thing as Safari crashes a lot too, particularly if you run a lot of tabs as I typically do.

What Other Options for Video

Going to Windows is pointless.  Sony Vegas is an adequate video editor but hardly breathtaking.  It would be a giant step backwards.

Apple doesn't appear willing to own the problem.  I'm not willing to abandon the videos.  As it stands, there's no way forward and no way back.

It may well be the only answer is to shut down the iMac and just leave it down until Apple comes out with OS X 10.10.4 as maybe that one will work whereas 10.10.3 sure as hell does not.

The extreme alternative is to bag it and head for Germany.  Even though extreme, it's a great alternative as there's no reason to stay here.  It's boring, they shoot each other, and high culture is Taylor Swift.

Note:  GOP loves Taylor Swift.  Unknown why.  Seems any generic young blondie would do as they all sound the same.

There will be discussion with Yevette as it will have to be a joint venture to escape.  That should come shortly and should be most interesting.

Meanwhile, time to kick back for some Chicagosax at the Circus as he has been playing a long, long time and he is cooler than cool.  He started The Missing Links that became Chicago.  Just stuff he does, you know.  Plus hanging with the Stones.  You know, little stuff like that.

OS X Yosemite Base System Installing on Test Disk - Live Updates

Any attempt to load the base OS X Yosemite to a Firewire 800 drive failed with the black screen I've seen repeatedly.  Therefore, the plan became to connect the drive to the laptop and install it there.  If that completes successfully, I will bring the drive back to the iMac to see if it will boot.

This is Yevette's computer and I will update from here as it goes.  It's just about at the point now at which the screen would go black during the install on the iMac  We shall see.

1:54 Update:
It's now past the point on the laptop at which it had been failing on the iMac.

1:59 Update
It's now well past the point of previous failures.

Note: one variable between this and the attempts on the iMac.  This is a Firewire drive which was connected with a Thunderbolt adaptor.  That is not supported on the laptop so it was removed for this install.

2:06 Update:
Laptop booted into the Yosemite 10.10 base system with no trouble and is in setup now.

2:17 Update:
Firewire drive with virgin copy of Yosemite 10.10 was re-connected via the Thunderbolt adaptor to the iMac.  The adaptor is required as this iMac does not support Firewire.  The system came up and the next move is to boot into the virgin system to install Final Cut 10.2 on it.  That will create a pristine system with no chance of any non-Apple ingredients.

2:28 Update:
Attempting to boot into the system I successfully booted from the laptop causes a black screen when I try it on the iMac.

I am becoming deeply-suspicious of the Thunderbolt adaptor as there is no other variable.  I have left the drive with the Thunderbolt drive powered-down.  One possible validation is if I go into Final Cut 2.0 and can successfully edit the video.  If yes then the Thunderbolt adaptor is the cause.  Here goes.

2:35 Update:
Final Cut 10.2 failed just as it had previously.

What has been gained:

There is no chance third-party software is causing the problem because none of it was loaded.  There were only two products on the test system, OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 and Final Cut 10.2.

There is something deeply sick in Yosemite 10.10.3 and the only thing for sure at this point is that Apple owns the problem, regardless of whether they're willing to admit it.

2:42 Update:
Interruption due to yet another spontaneous black screen crash.  Prior to restarting, I disconnected the Thunderbolt adaptor from the machine.  There will now be another test with Final Cut to see if that disconnection made any difference.

2:47 Update:
Failure is exactly the same.  This, as much as possible, eliminates hardware as the problem.  The Firewire drive wasn't even connected.

My conclusion remains the same.  The poisoning of Final Cut comes from Apple.  Hardware is eliminated at the disk and computer level as the source of the problem.  The virgin system has nothing but Apple software on it.

Whether it's OS X Yosemite 10.10.3, Final Cut 10.2 or a combination of the two is beyond my willingness to debug as it's clearly Apple's problem and no-one else can fix it.

The Problem is Not Hardware with the iMac and Yosemite 10.10.3

Going to the Apple Store is fading for optimism.  I've run the Apple hardware diagnostics and there's simply nothing wrong with the machine.  Yosemite 10.10.3 has got a massive problem.  Here's the beauty part:

A virgin copy of Yosemite 10.10.1 was downloaded from Apple and then started such that it would install on an empty disk.  The installation goes part way and then boots into Yosemite to complete the install.  Note:  it's booting into the virgin copy.  Any software I have anywhere else is irrelevant at that point.

In five tries on two different disks, the installation failed with the same black screen symptom I have seen previously.  The only recovery is unplug, wait for SMC to reset, and boot.

Previously I had installed Yosemite on the iMac's SSD so I know the installation has worked before.  There is no explanation I can find for why it fails now.

Some consistent things I notice about it:

Every time it sleeps it will crash

Every time a complex video is edited it will crash

Other crashes take place randomly with no apparent provocation

Software notes:

Adobe Flash Player is removed and burned

Virus scanners or memory cleaners have been removed.

Net change from that:  zero

Running out of debug options as it's $29 just to talk to Apple about it.

(This is not a plea for money.  If you want to help, buy a CD ... please.  That won't result in anything for months but it's better than being a charity case.)

Fiendish plan that could conceivably work:

Download the virgin copy of Yosemite to the laptop.  Install it to one of the iMac disks from there.  Bring the disk back over to the iMac, assuming the install didn't die just as it did on the iMac, and boot into that virgin system.  Install nothing but Final Cut 10.2, no other third-party software, etc.  Test again with video.  If it again fails then there's no question.  The software release is the culprit as no other software would be running and no historical information would have been carried forward.

Brutally disheartening as video is stabbed in the heart and the regulars have seen how important it has been.   So ... that's a plan of attack with a marginal chance of success and at a sure plan for diagnostics.  If the installation fails from the laptop which has no reliability problems then it's a stinky install.  Yosemite 10.10.3 was never installed on the laptop.

That means going offline for some while.  I will get something online in time for Chicagosax later as I do not plan on missing it but lately my plans haven't exactly been playing according to the conductor's direction.

iMac Teardown Imminent - Send it to the Apple Store

There's no option now but to take the iMac to the Apple Store as Apple Support was even worse than a waste of time, it was an extended waste of time.  I hope it amuses them because it bored the shit out of me and I do hope they don't plan on doing system diagnostics as a career.  I did and, unlike them, I was damn good at it, at least until the lard-ass executives showed up trying to pretend they knew something.

Note:  the lard-ass executives dumped the entire Tech staff for Citizens Bank.  Look for mediocrity and what ought to be a substantial drop in the stock value (if any - unknown if they're private again).  Their disloyalty doesn't surprise me as they screwed me too.  Never ever trust a bank.  Never ever believe upper managers.  They know only two things:  golf and graft.

I have no idea how I will get the computer back out of the shop or what comes when I do.  If they can't do it (unlikely) then I've got a two-thousand dollar ashtray and the People of the Future are going to be properly pissed ... and quite rightly.

The glowing hope is that somehow it gets back for next Thursday so I can do a back-to-back set with Vandengroef.  That's a really good groove as both of us are groovulators because three-minute songs are for sissies who can't jam, yes?  (laughs)

Maestro Michi Renoir is the Master Groovulator.  He starts his jam at the top of the hour and doesn't stop until the end of it.  That is groovulation of the finest kind.  Just now if you could send some positive vibes the Maestro's way in Austria, it would be very good.  He has troubles just now and our good vibes may help.

I like making up words but groovilicious is too much.  I don't know what it means but it doesn't sound too groovy to me.  It sounds like something will bite me.  So, scratch that one.

Paris Obscur Romances Cat's Art MusikCircus

Paris Obscur would sound sexy reading traffic signs.  If you think I exaggerate, come out on Wednesdays and hear him singing at Cat's Art MusikCircus.

It's been some while since I could get to one of Paris' shows and it was fantastic.  In the picture you can see he has left the stage so DD can accompany him on violin.  There was a large crowd adoring every moment of it and they were still there at the end of the show so he kept right on going and they kept right on loving it.

A special favorite is his "Circus" song because he somehow found just the right mix of voices straight from a circus.  The organ and everything else has you feeling a circus vibe the whole time.  It's an extraordinary piece as it's instrumental and very much a painting.

My computer only crashed once during his show so even this evil beast of a machine loved it.

The man is passion ablaze delivered with a sexy French accent that isn't even close to what anyone would call a chanteur.  While the style of a chanteur can be beautiful, Paris needs a much more wide-ranging view and an incredibly powerful method of delivery.  For this he uses every instrument at his disposal and he surprised me no end when he brought a hard rock guitar into it as I had previously never heard him do that before.

Paris Obscur, the Dark Clown

There are many Clowns at Cat's Art MusikCircus but no-one knows the darkness better and perhaps that means no-one knows the love better.  For that, you will have to decide for yourself on listening to him.

And Cat and I danced ... along with a lot of people.  This one doesn't show Cat's face so well but her colors ... wow!

Silas Goes to the City

Silas hates being in the city.  Tip:  don't try to paint the fur, particularly if you wear leather or eat hamburgers.  Note particularly the cane.  He will hit you.

When a Plastic Dildo Just Isn't Enough

Pure cane sugar, baby.  Do keep in mind possible problems, however.  Telling your dentist your problem is vaginal might be a bit awkward.  More accurately, his examination would be awkward as how many vaginas could a dentist possibly have ever seen.

Installation of Base Version of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Fails Five Times #apple

OS X Yosemite (base version) installation was attempted on external USB 3.0 disk.  Three times it failed with precisely the shutdown failure I have seen previously.

The USB 3.0 disk was disconnected from the system and I tried twice to install the base system to an external USB 2.0 disk.  Both yielded the black screen failure.

There is nothing I can do to fix it if I can't even install the base.  It seems clear there is a hardware problem as the crash came after it had already booted into the installation system.  Whether Flash Player or Martians infect the original system are irrelevant at that point so that leaves only hardware.

Too many other things are going on and there's no money to ship it back to Oregon to PowerMax or take it to the Apple Store here.  The only move remaining is to limp along as is or just shut it off and set it to one side until I can deal with it.

What other complications exist are not public.  Given the comments yesterday, there's no possible chance they ever will be public.

General Revised Plan on the iMac with Yosemite 10.10.3 and Final Cut 10.2

Apple has been useless and the videos cannot be read by a lower level of Final Cut so they are lost.  Final Cut support never even contacted me back.

The new and improved plan is to initialize the computer to Mavericks and sell it.   Apple is so far beyond useless that the videos cannot be salvaged.  An older version of Final Cut cannot read Final Cut 2.0 format videos so they're all gone.

With the computer out of it, the music goes RL and, ideally, to Germany.

The perspective may improve if I find anyone capable of reading Apple diagnostics but I don't see any diagnostic log since Final Cut 2.0 was installed so apparently the system crashes so hard that it can't even capture the dump.  It crashes every time it sleeps.  This computer is almost completely non-functional.

Apple keeps saying do a clean install but that's pointless without definitive proof it will be useful and there's nothing.  They just play guessing games.  If I debugged a system like this in the mainframe days, I would have been fired before the day was over ... and I would have deserved it.

The situation is massively depressing but what isn't depressing at all is playing live for Cat with her in front of me and no need for computers, Internet or any of the other CIA-controlled crappery of the modern world.  To play live for Cat for real would be worth burning every video I ever made.  I'll hate Apple until I die but so what.  With what Cook does with them they will be just another version of Mattel Toy Company before much longer.  Judging by their system support, they already are.

Free the Monkeys - The GOP Wants to Run Them for President

Two chimpanzee are being held against their will in a liberal pinko university and there's only one thing that will come from that:  the chimpanzees will become liberal pinkos as well.   Save the Monkeys!  (New York Times:  Judge Orders Stony Brook University to Defend Its Custody of 2 Chimps)

Photo:  New York Times

(Ed:  why should they become liberal pinkos?)

Because the purpose of universities is to create liberal pinkos.  Those Commie bastards won't stop with people.  Next they will come after the monkeys.

Save the Monkeys!

The GOP has listened to Jeb Bush and they know their chances are hopeless as he isn't even qualified to park Hillary Clinton's car.  If the monkeys can be saved and they will easily sound credible relative to Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, or any of the other gerbils in the race.

Stop the liberal infestation of the animal kingdom.  Animals exist so Republicans can go out there and shoot them and they are not supposed to become more Commies, they are supposed to become dead so slack-eyed bimbos can shoot selfies with their carcasses.

Parnellio and Lefty Make it Happen at Cat's Art MusikCircus

Parnellio's show on Monday can't be passed by.  The cat was on fire with that guitar and singing each song like he may never sing another.  He ripped from start to finish.  Well, I can't say about the start as I got there late but Cat said was rippin' right from the first song.

He brings huge passion to his play and it makes excitement all around.  Sure you can get excitement from firecrackers but Parnellio is so much more.  There's a vibe he builds as he plays and it draws people into it.  He doesn't do anything tricky as he's not using loopers or any other devices but he doesn't need tricky.  It's all Parnellio and he sounds grand.

Lefty Unplugged brings a similar passion but he does it in a style I still really can't put into any kind of a box.  He's a brilliant lyricist as his poetry has surprising nuances at every turn and shows extraordinary subtlety in observation.  His vocals are unique in his own Lefty way and are extremely expressive and his guitar technique is not the unrestrained passion Parnellio shows but that doesn't mean a lack of skill.  Lefty's style is more toward stylizing his play and he has extraordinary guitar skills.  He can still fire all of his guns at once when he likes as in "Blacker Than" and a number of others.

The night was a perfect combination of musicians as Parnellio and Lefty complemented each other beautifully.

And Cat and I danced

That's Lefty in the background looking like Joe Satriani.

Note:  he never ever pretends to be Joe Satriani

Progressivism, Surely the Enemy of Us All

Progressivism is such a terrible thing as it involves, gasp, change.  Listen to conservatives and we would all still be living in log cabins and eating beef jerky.  They never want to change anything, we get that.

So, if it is going to change, you've got to do it as they never will.  Look at the history and see they never did so it makes little sense to believe they will in the future.  Any way you slice it, the move is on you, cupcake.

List of Concerns Regarding Republicans Hating Me

.
.
.
.

Well, there you have it.  The reason I don't care is that Republicans hate everyone because we're all trying to steal their money, don'tcha know.  That's credible when you consider the good the money did them.

Something that amuses me from time to time is to try to identify any original thought from the GOP in the last fifty years.  Try it.  I keep coming up dry but maybe you can find something.

Full Bark Looney

Trying to deal with the iMac problem, incompetent tech support, and multiple other things is difficult stuff.  Trying to do it with a looney on the loose is nearly impossible.  When I spend half my time chasing her damn cats out of here, it goes over the wall.  There's no way to do anything productive at all and I'm eating Klonopin like they're breath mints.  The trouble with that is I hate Klonopin because it steals brain cycles.  If it steals enough of them I will become a Republican.

I hope the Cavalry gets here soon as no-one could deal with this.  I woke up at three a.m. and within ten minutes I'm asked, "What's up?"

I should have said, "One more than is necessary," but I didn't.

No, I'm not whining.  I write as displacement activity that's preferable to strangling her dumb ass.

Now I have a demented plan.  One of her cats got down here and she won't close doors so it happens all the time.  I finally figured where they hide as they can get into a closet through an area behind the TV.  That area is now blocked and the cat is trapped.

So now the deal, says he as he twists his pencil-thin mustache, give me some peace or you never see the cat again.   (I won't hurt it.  I'll chuck it outside.  The others do fine out there.)

No, I won't do that.  I am just furious for a number of justifiable reasons.  When Republicans get like that, they go off and bomb a third-world nation.  That seems a bit excessive to me.

System Diagnostic Report for Final Cut Pro X 10.2

Maybe one of you can read it.  Apple hasn't shown any interest.  This may not be germane as typically the system crashes so hard from it that I would be surprised if any useful debugging information still exists when it recovers.  This is the most recent diagnostic and it's crashed many times since then so its value is questionable.

One of the things I notice immediately is that none of the products identified as problems by Apple Support are in it.

This and another report like it are in the blog today .... but scroll solves all.

Update:  whoops - this is not for Final Cut 10.2 but rather the previous release.  Therefore my first conclusion appears to be correct; it crashes so hard that no diagnostics are captured.

What an Actual Apple Diagnostic Report Looks Like

This one is for the Safari Webkit plugin that crashes constantly.  It doesn't take the system down and it's only the browser so I don't care that much.  About Final Cut, I care very much.

Thus far, no-one at Apple has asked for this kind of information and there's no way to debug a problem without it.

This one is heavily-edited to reveal Adobe Flash Player is all through it.  From this it seems fair to conclude Flash causes the Safari Webkit crashes.

What Apple System Support Needs

Private:  Cupertino is in range, sir.

Officer:  FIRE!

Now Apple Thinks It's Flash Player

While Adobe Flash Player is clearly the stinkiest piece of software that ever traveled the Internet, hopping from one topic to another is the obvious sign of an amateur.  Maybe it's CleanMyMac, maybe it's Flash, maybe I am a poser who has no idea of how to debug a computer.

No-one reads dumps anymore.  A dump is when a computer spills its guts about every damn thing in it no matter where it hides.  A talented reader can determine extremely sophisticated things using this process.  I spent much of my life doing this and it frosts my goznitch in a major way that programmers now are too lazy ass to do the job right.  It's not that my way is the right way, this was the way of the entire industry.  Now systems specialists appear to be little more than clerks.

I have no time to learn Apple internals to read their dump format as my background is IBM.  Those I can read.  For Apple, I turn to people who should have equivalent expertise.  Thus far, I have found nothing.

With each day I grow more livid over this and I'm thinking it's best to shut down this computer and just wait until I find someone competent via the laptop.

And get this.  Someone down here bought an Apple Watch.  No, I did not smash it.  I do confess to being tempted.  Apple made computers but now it makes toys.

By Law, All Guns Made in the U.S. Must Now Be Pink

Republican men have enacted one law after the other to regulate the behavior of women and some of that is not yet the law of the land as they have tried that for fifty years and got nowhere but, Republicans being what they are (i.e. imaginative as a caveworm), they will keep trying.

A large cadre of female legislators has gathered, in the spirit of America and fair play, to enact laws regarding Republican men, the first of which is the management of their guns.  Democrats play with real guns whereas Republicans will play with the ones that shoot bullets and that aspect clearly needs revision.

Therefore, be it resolved in the interests of safety of the American public and the American Way,

1)  All guns manufactured in the United States must be colored pink in such a way it is burnished into the metal and cannot be brushed off.  Visibility is safety for one and all, especially little Tiny Tim.

2)  All bullets must show much better manners.  Instead of just blowing off someone's face, they must first pause to tell the victim they are sorry they were the bullet picked by such an asshole shooter.

3)  All guns will undergo a monthly time of PMS (i.e. Preventive Maintenance Strategy) and guns should never be used for two to three days before or after PMS.

4)  All bullets intended to shoot big game animals will explode in the rifle's firing chamber.

and, verily, this is the law this twenty-ninth day of April in the Year of our Lord, 2015.

Blog is Just About to Hit 300,000

People have come to read my dumb ass scribbles very nearly 300,000 times.  There's some novel conclusion to be drawn from that but I have no idea what it might be.

I do thank you for reading.  I don't know who you are and I'm really not all that sure why you come so I keep mixing stuff up in the thinking that enough twisted stuff will present something interesting to someone.

And, oh yeah, buy a CD as that would be grand.  Even if you hate the bitch, it's only ten bucks.  Cheap, right?  "Pigment of My Fascination" is on the sidebar and, hey, ten bucks, cheap!

Many CDs are in my erratic history and I just discovered another one the other day.  However, "Pigment of My Fascination" is the best I had ever done for production values and the next one may well improve on that.

The political material is fading as I despise all of the candidates and even hard-core Republicans think Clinton will take it.  They don't mind admitting that to me as they know I don't like her either.  However, being a cheerleader for the Green Party doesn't add much of interest even if a worthwhile thing to do.

Various complexities slow the music just now but the Cavalry is on the way.  It's not entirely clear exactly when but it's going to happen.  The irony is that I've done some of the best stuff in my life through this and I can't tell you a word about it.

There has been a problem with shrinking as I'm at 137 lbs.  Stress will do that.  The higher the stress the less I eat.  It's not my stress as see above.   There was a win today in finally getting some chow into myself.  The computer problems slow my music and video development but that's more annoyance than stress.  Computers have been pissing me off for forty years and there's not much they do that surprises me anymore.

Jams and videos will come at some unpredictable rate and hopefully that will be interesting enough to  keep this twisted unreality show going and entertain you ... or something.

General Plan to Save the iMac from Yosemite 10.10.3

When a computer crashes every time it goes to sleep, that may sound amusing to hippies but it's a bad scene here at the Rockhouse.

(Ed:  what do you do?)

Fix that bitch!  That's what I do!

She is not a bitch, tho.  She is a victim of skanky software as she was SO happy with OS X Mavericks and then that bad OS X Yosemite came to town.

The conclusion from various people at Apple was CleanMyMac2 is the culprit even though it has been lurking in the system for years.  It's conceivable it truly is the problem but no causal link was presented to provide a definitive proof it's the cause of the symptoms.  It's good process to get rid of it but how do I know after completely rebuilding the system that it will be fixed.

Answer:  I don't

Therefore I believe I will continue gathering information until I'm satisfied the answer is correct rather than a fishing trip.  First level tech support always runs a script to eliminate various things before a hand-off to Second level tech.

Due to the undependability of the iMac with Yosemite 10.10.3, my current fallback is to disconnect it and wait for Apple to make a move.  I can run on the laptop although it's not powerful enough to do much.  However, it can get me online for basics, etc.

No solid resolution at this time.  Given that situation, best to do nothing.  This is not a crisis but rather a nuisance.

Fun with Telephones

Phone: Hello, is Sammy Snead there?

Me: Yes, I am Sammy Snead ... and I promise I'll come home soon but I need to screw everyone in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir first.  That's a whole lot of women and they need my sex.  I'll come home after that.

The weird part: she didn't hang up (laughs).

CleanMyMac2 the Proposed Culprit for OS X Yosemite 10.10.3

ClearMyMac2 is a piece of software said to improve memory management.  I must have tried it sometime years ago as I don't recall reviewing it.  Nevertheless, traces remain in the system and it's impossible to remove it.

Other shoot-on-sight software for Macs includes Memory Cleaner and MacKeeper.  Don't EVER use this software on your machine as you will poison it and the software is impossible to remove.

The resolution appears to be to install a virgin copy of Yosemite and then individually install all of my products.  That aspect isn't the worst as this will forget all of the stream URLs for broadcasting, etc.

(Ed:  isn't this how Windows people fix their computers?)

Yah.  That should give you some idea of how livid I am over this.

Note:  when Apple knows or strongly suspects these programs are poison, why would they not add code to the Setup Assistant so they do not get carried forward in a system migration to another computer.

Shallow.  This is not Steve Jobs Apple anymore.  Jobs made computers whereas Cook makes toys.

Is the One True God Django or Jimi

There's no answer as they are two of the greatest guitarists who ever swung an axe.  I seriously owe Voodoo Shilton a good review as the one about John Cage reviewing him was comical but that wasn't intended to be a long-runner.  I see it's No. 3 in the weekly Hit Parade so maybe I went a bit too far.

This isn't the article I will write but I tell you know if you want to find a Django man then you go looking for Voodoo.  Reinhardt plays very fast complex music and it was, I believe, Pablo Casals who listened to him and enjoyed the music so he asked after the set if Reinhardt has any charts for his music.  Reinhardt just tapped a finger to his head.

When you play anything by Django Reinhardt, the precision of your play is paramount and that's where Voodoo Shilton excels.  If he makes a mistake and, gasp, sometimes he does, it will be so fast most never hear it and, above all, he does it with confidence.  Voodoo knows better than anyone that the only mistake is to stop.

Confidence isn't arrogance but rather the feeling of yes, I can do this.  It's very hard but if I stay cool then I can do it.  Arrogance is when you expect people to like it as maybe they will, maybe they won't.

This isn't a make-up review but rather a clarification before the next one I write in case non-regular readers only saw the John Cage item.

So, Rebecca Francis ... or a Real Woman?

Maybe you remember Rebecca Francis, the slut who shot a giraffe and then shot a selfie next to its body. She's hardly a memorable human but sometimes you can do something so vile they will remember you anyway and she did accomplish that.

On the other hand, here's a real woman.

Choose wisely, young Casanova.

That's obviously not a deceased bear so what did the Animal Whisperer say. These would be important words to know as I'm highly sure this bear could eat you like a TV dinner.

CNN Tries to Make Baltimore the New Watts

When CNN isn't spewing ludicrous fabrications, state-sponsored pro-cop articles, or generally serving as a corporate lapdog, it will try to create news where it isn't and will do it in the most tasteless way of any news medium in human history.

The travesty of sensationalism that has become the once mighty global empire of news built by Ted Turner is or should be an embarrassment to anyone who remembers.  There was a full page graphic for the Earthquake in Nepal with 96-point purple headlines (figuratively).  They have just done the same again with a riot in Baltimore.

CNN licks its lips for a new Watts in the same way as right-wing extremists lick their lips over murdering the Boston Bomber.  There is some comedy, however, as the behavior of states, particularly Oklahoma and other Midwestern states which have been so brutal and callous in their executions that reputable drug manufacturers won't sell drugs which could be used for execution to U.S. buyers.  Their position is America has killed enough ... and many times over.

Always CNN is there because they will show you every drop of blood and every hint of human suffering.  The more blood, the better as that's what sells whatever the hell CNN sells.  CNN promotes blood, death and war for the same reason as William Randolph Hearst:  it sells newspapers.

Baltimore isn't the new Watts ... but ... the next one will be if cops don't stop shooting people.  Those flatfoots would do well to keep in mind they are vastly out-numbered and they wouldn't stand a chance if people really did want to kill them as they claim.  What is, for me, an amusing irony is that cops have been more defensive of ownership of private weapons than the NRA and they're the ones who will be shot by them.  Irony is a bitch sometimes.

This is precisely how the Forefathers intended guns to be used, in defense of the people against an overbearing state.  If I'm putting a bet on the winner of this one, it won't be on the cops.  I'll be betting on the Forefathers whom the cops consistently ignore.
